The Cincinnati region reigns again as a Top 10 Metro

CINCINNATI – For the 21st straight year, Site Selection magazine has recognized the Cincinnati Region as a Top 10 Metro for corporate facility investment in multiple categories as part of its 2025 Governor’s Cup Awards. Cincinnati ranked #9 in total projects and #5 in projects per capita.

“This Governor’s Cup recognition affirms that our region is a proven destination for business success, powered by the strength of our public and private partners working together to create direct impact,” said Kimm Lauterbach, president and CEO of REDI Cincinnati. “We are proud of this achievement, grateful for the collaboration that makes it possible, and thankful to our project companies for their continued trust to grow and expand in our region.”

Lauterbach continued,

“Ohio ranked #3 in total projects and #6 projects per capita rankings. This strong performance is powered by the support of JobsOhio, its seven regional networks, including REDI Cincinnati, and the numerous economic development partners throughout the state. Kentucky ranked #5 in projects per capita.”

The 72-year-old Atlanta-based magazine has awarded the Governor’s Cup annually since 1988, based on new and expanded corporate facilities as tracked by the proprietary Conway Projects Database. Site Selection, published by Conway Data, is the senior publication in the corporate real estate and economic development fields. The magazine’s yearly analyses are regarded by corporate real estate analysts as “the industry scoreboard” and are closely watched by nearly 42,000 qualified subscribers, most of whom are involved in corporate facility location decisions at the CEO/President/COO level.

Project Qualification for the Governor’s Cup Awards
Site Selection’s Conway Projects Database, which is used as the basis to calculate the total projects for Governor’s Cup Awards, records new corporate projects – such as headquarters, manufacturing plants, R&D operations and logistics, etc. – that have major impacts. These projects must meet at least one of three criteria: a) have capital investment of at least $1M, b) create at least 20 new jobs or c) add 20,000 sq. ft. or more of new space. Retail, government, hospital and school projects are not counted in the metrics.
