Cincinnati Region Recognized for Two Projects in Area Development Awards

The Cincinnati Region's Skyline

CINCINNATI – June 18, 2024 –The Cincinnati region was again recognized by Area Development, a site selection and relocation publication, for two project wins in 2023: Worldpay and Resilience US, creating 940 total new jobs and $84 million in new payroll, with a nearly $90,000 average salary. The two project wins contributed to the State of Ohio receiving the Silver Shovel award in the 8-12 million population category.

Worldpay, returning to Symmes Township, Ohio, is one of the largest payment processors in the world, processing $2 trillion in payment volume in 2022. The company is a leader in global e-commerce payments and processes transactions in 146 countries across 135 currencies, supporting more than 1 million merchant businesses globally.

Resilience US, expanding in West Chester, Ohio, is a bio-manufacturing company focused on producing novel medicines and improving access through manufacturing processes and supply chain efficiency.

“Worldpay and Resilience US highlight two of the region’s most robust business sectors: financial services and life sciences. Worldpay is a key player in the financial services, and our region boasts the second-largest concentration of top financial institutions outside of New York City. Similarly, Resilience US exemplifies the strength of our life sciences sector, experiencing continued strong job growth with a 25% increase from 2018 to 2022,” said Kimm Lauterbach, president and CEO of REDI Cincinnati. “These recognitions underscore the diverse economic landscape of the Cincinnati region, highlighting its capacity to attract and sustain leading and innovative businesses in both financial services and life sciences.”

Lauterbach continued, “Congratulations to our partners at JobsOhio for their efforts in leading Ohio to the Silver Shovel Award. The honor is a testament to the strength of the economic development ecosystem in Ohio.”

In addition to Ohio’s silver shovel accolade, the State of Indiana was also recognized with the award in the 5-8 million population category, providing further evidence of the robust economic development infrastructure powering growth in the three-state, 15-county Cincinnati region.

In March, the Cincinnati MSA was recognized for its 21st year as a Site Selection magazine’s Top-10 Metro for corporate facility investment as part of its 2023 Governor’s Cup Awards.
