Setting the course: REDI’s Strategic Vision for Dynamic Regional Growth

At REDI, our mission is clear: to drive regional economic growth by embracing digital innovation, strategic leadership, and competitive advantages. Nearly five years ago, we embarked on a reflective journey, asking ourselves how to effectively realize this mission. Our vision has always been to catalyze regional economic development through strategic innovation, community collaboration, and a commitment to growth and inclusivity across the Cincinnati region.

Equipped with a robust mission and a clear vision, we launched what we called Year Zero, which was a foundational period of foresight and learning. In partnership with Avalanche, a strategic consultancy, we underwent a comprehensive strategy development process. This process not only aligned with our mission and vision but also laid out concrete steps to look forward and act decisively.

Strategy Pillars: The Foundation of Our Approach

At the heart of our strategy are five pillars which answer the critical question: Why do we do what we do? These pillars are more than just components of our plan; they are the very essence of our purpose.

  • Booming Business: At the forefront of our strategy is the goal to cultivate a landscape where high-value industries flourish. By attracting and nurturing these sectors, we aim to catalyze business expansion that in turn fuels a robust and thriving economy.
  • Global Brand: In today’s interconnected world, a global presence is non-negotiable. and elevating the region’s stature on the world stage is our key objective.
  • Sites and Infrastructure: Infrastructure serves as the backbone of economic vitality. Recognizing this, we are committed to enhancing both the physical and digital frameworks necessary for modern business.
  • Talent Hub: The engine of our economy is its workforce. By developing a pipeline of highly skilled professionals, we ensure that businesses have access to the talent needed to innovate and grow.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is at our core; it is a fundamental idea that permeates all aspects of our work. Our dedication to fostering an inclusive economic ecosystem is unwavering, as we recognize and implement the strength found in diversity.

From Why to How: An Overview

Transitioning from the foundational ‘why’ to the actionable ‘how,’ over the past four years, we’ve been busy transforming our strategy into reality. We navigated the stormy seas of the pandemic, championed inclusivity in the workplace, and expanded our global reach – all while celebrating strategic wins along the way.

  • Year 1: Focus Amid Uncertainty: Marking the official launch of our strategic plan, this year emphasized adaptation, particularly in supporting businesses and the workforce through the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Year 2: Resilience and Relationships: We initiated programs aimed at fostering inclusivity and diversity within the workplace, strengthening our community fabric.
  • Year 3: Growth and Global Presence: This year was dedicated to leveraging digital marketing and enhancing international reputation, marking a significant stride in our global outreach efforts.
  • Year 4: Ownable Authority: Characterized by strategic victories and multi-stakeholder initiatives, such as the sites revolving loan fund, demonstrating the power of collaborative efforts.

Year 5 and Beyond: The Magic Behind the Wins

Looking forward to Year 5, named as ‘Magic Behind the Wins,’ we anticipate further efforts in solidifying our mission to make the Cincinnati region competitively unmatched. Our continued success hinges on three essentials: dedicated investors who share our vision, indispensable community and economic development partners, and a strong internal culture characterized by acceptance, dedication, and inclusivity.

While our roadmap may not be exhaustive, our collective knowledge and experience position us optimistically for the future. We are not just planning; we are actively paving the way for many more successful years ahead.

And we’re not stopping there. As we complete our fifth and final year of the initial strategic plan, we are also preparing for what’s next. REDI in partnership with EY, is embarking on a refreshed and updated three-years strategy that will take effect in 2025.
